Not too early....



...or is it?

That's right - the leaves are turning up here in the North Country - that
means Winter isn't that far off.
And that means it's time for me to start thinking about Snow Tires.

I just bought a 4kq that I'm rigging up for TSD rallies, snow and ice
driving school,  and general winter transport.  Currently it's got crappy
tires - they're going in the trash.

I seem to remember reading in Auto Motor und Sport some time last year that
the new Pirelli Winter Ice Direzionale/Asimmetrico tires were outstanding -
killing the Blizzacks and everything Scandinavia could pour into the test.
The Direzionale's seem to be the right tire for a 4000 Quattro (perhaps not
for the bigger, more powerful Audi's though).  

I'd like to know if anyone has heard about these tires or if those of you
in Europe have tried them (they were available last year in Europe, I believe)
