Tustin Vintage Races: A Short Review

Well, to start off, I have to say the cars and the races were pretty
fun to watch. The sound of old GT racers zooming around the track was a
aural treat! And being able to get behind the wheel of a Ford GT40 was
something of a lifelong dream. ( Yeah, like they'd let ME drive
something like that! ) Hell, just wandering around the parking lot was
thrilling. I saw a Plymouth Prowler with the Lic. plate "PRWLR1", a de
Tomaso Pantera & Mangusta, bunches of Porsche's, some Ferrari's, and
other exotics and classics. In my opinion, the real car show was in the
parking lot! I also saw a red `85-87 Audi 4000q with a R/C racers'
permit in the window; anyones' on the list? One of the race teams had a
100 in the paddocks as their personal car. And as I was leaving I saw a
pearl 200 (I think) that was parking. Other than that, those were the
only Audi's I saw.

Which brings me to my next question: Where was everybody?! I waited in
the Wickes parking lot for an hour, and no one so much as drove by!
What's the deal? Did the A4 club peek around the corner while I was
reading my paper, say to themselves, "Oh, just some wanna-be Coupe owner.
Let's ditch'em!" Well, I got enough of that treatment when I was in 6th
grade. Hmph! [8^) Seriously though, I found it a waste of my time and
very inconsiderate. I don't want to open up the "Camaraderie" can of
worms again, but maybe we should all at least think about it for a minute
or two. I hope to get a better reception at the Petterson Auto Museum
next month!

Sorry about the negative message there, but it had to be said. Anyways,
I'd like to hear what the other Q-lister's thought of the event.

Love, Like, or Just Plain Tolerate,

Timothy
