Rear window wiper motor - A100 Avant

A long journey today was enlivened by the rear wiper motor of my '91 100
Avant starting to fry and fill the car with noxious fumes.

The blade had stuck in the opposite position to 'park' and no doubt the
motor was still receiving intermittent wipe current. 

I stopped and removed the appropriate fuse - quick !

Just wondered if anyone had BTDT - I assume it's the motor which must be
at fault rather than associated electrics. And does anyone happen to
know whether any other VW-Audi rear wiper motors will fit : it doesn't
look dissimilar from memory to the one in my son's Polo.
