The same thing happened on my old 4000S. I think it was caused by
electrolytic corrosion. The aluminum of the wheel and the steel of the
hub do a little chemical dating game. The same thing happens on bicyles.
The aluminum seatposts can seize inside the steel seat tube. The SOP in a
bike shop is to always grease a seatpost during assembly or repair. The
same might help on the hubs, providing you can get the wheel off. I won't
comment on the methodologies suggested to remove it, only that I was
unsuccessfull with several of them, then totaled the car, solving the
problem.
