It's a sad, sad day when you get bad or no advice from many "Audi
experts" and good free advice from the guy at K-Mart.

I have heard of the exact same thing happening before. Audi spec's 20W-50
for my engine ('85 1.8) as well as the 5 cylinder even in winter
temperatures. Their chart seems to imply that 10W anything is a little
too thin, so 0W-30 seems extreme.
