Shooting off at the mouth

I'm writing to in part retract the negative generalization aimed at SE
Wisconsin and Milwaukee. While I do believe that there are cultural
differences between different places in the country, disparaging an
entire region is wrong. I made many friends in Milwaukee and SE Wisconsin
while I lived there, and I did receive good parts and advice at another
supplier right in Milwaukee, Mofoco. Mofoco deals mostly in VW parts, but
has a good amount of parts for Audis in stock.

That said, I'd like to give my final word on Blaufergnugen. They make
what I consider the cardinal sin of customer service, they promise things
they cannot deliver. An immediate example is their ad in European Car.
The ad states boldly that when you call you will be greeted by a
"cheerful and experienced Audi technician." The ad then goes on to
reinforce how "helpful" and "friendly" the service will be. It appears
someone was looking at the Boy Scout Handbook when they wrote this ad.
They go on to promise a "NICE AUDI CAP" on orders over $100. On the web
site they promised various stickers for filling out surveys and such. I
filled out the survey, and surprise! they are out of the stickers, just
like they are out of the hats, out of Audi techs, etc. NEVER promise more
than you can give! I was greeted by what amounted to the average parts
store clerk, and if I wasn't expecting more, I wouldn't have felt
unusually bad about the call. I bought nothing due to their lack of
knowledge of their own products. I don't think the question "what brand
is the muffler?" qualifies as a technical question.

I don't like the way this discussion has headed, and I'm partly to blame.
For my part I'd like to say go ahead and try Blaufergnugen and judge by
your experience.

PS Blaufergnugen recently moved, but they used to be right near Milwaukee
in the 414 area code. Now they are in Manitowoc which is further out.
