hood release

Subject: hood release

The hood release cable end under the dash has a plastic tip.  This tip
will break.  Tip trips releases one of 2 catches.  Once broken, the
passenger side catch does not release.  My mechanic got a very long screw
driver which he inserted thru the grill and pressed on the catch thus
releasing it manually.  Once open, repair is simple    just install a u
bolt at the end of the cable in place of the plastic tip.

Look at a friend's audi or go to dealer used car lot and open the hood to
see the hood release setup.  Then go to with a long long screwdriver or
appropriate substitue. Good Luck     It works on 5000  expect it will also
