OK, I've just looked at pictures I took of euro 90qs beside those of US
4000qs.
I think you're right- hard to say, because all my pictures have been taken
from different angles. I guess they just look like they protrude more. To
make my explanation of 'what goes where' a little clearer-
European Audi 90s, type 81, have orange turn signals where the dummy
reflectors/white bits go on US-market 4000s. Inboard from those are fog
lights. European 90s have the twin-bulb H4/H1 headlights, without any
orange markers.

European bumpers mount with mounting bars into the frame rails. They can be
detached by taking out four mounting bolts inside the rails in the engine
compartment. This removes the bumper and all its mounting hardware. The
cover ends of the bumper clip to the bodywork with plastic clips into which
you slide the bumper cover.

I can provide a clear picture of a Euro '84 90q to anyone interested in
this subject (.JPG file).
