I love my audi cars, but I don't race M3's."

I absolutely agree. However, since I've added Bilstein Sports on all four
and coil-overs in the rear of my wagon, I consider staying within sight of
M3 a moral victory...

I know, I know...Audi dominated in 88 and 96 and they changed the rules,
and, but, and...get over it. As Da Coach (Ditka) sez "...only cowards and
losers live in the past."

Race results have little to do with how well our street cars handle or
compare to the competition. Sh*t, didn't Honda (perhaps Renault) do well
this year in Touring Car races. We better watch out for all those Accords
and Alliances here in the States. For those that want to buy into the
quattro advantage crap (with regard to handling) I suggest you check out the
2/98 issue of performance car. They compare a bone stock euro fwd A6 to a
euro A6q. Guess what. No advantage in a 193 hp car. H*ll, in the wet
handling course (two tight left-handers, a longer right-hander and three
quarters of a lap of a large diameter circle that forms the hub the wet grip
facility where the testing took place) the q turned in a 39.9 seconds to the
fwd's 40.1 seconds. The wet lateral g was q .70 to fwd's .69.

Now we all have stories about passing this guy in the street with this car
or that car but there are tons of variables. Hell I passed a p-club
instructor's 911 with full race set up (roll cage, R1s, etc) at Blackhawk no
less. Sure er ah... his wife was driving. Scott gives the one solution for
all you doubters. Go to the track and see for yourself. I have and Scott
is right. I have seen the famous quattro club M3 (qcm3 - tm) and it has set
the pace. Is driver skill a huge variable? Of course, but you would have
to believe this one guy (one of Scott's students with no racing experience)
is a better driver than 20 - 30 q drivers almost all of whom are into it
enough to modify their car. Regardless, check out track times for the bmw
events and compare to the quattro club times. I bet they aren't close.

Of course if you're happy talking about how your chipped type 44 or your A4
wasted a M3, 540i, Mcoupe, Z3 then I'm happy for you. Can you sell me some
of what you're smoking? I'm struggling in reality just staying with 328s,
528s and 740s.
