Help! 4kq Tranny Removal Questions

I have started work on droppingmy tranny in my 85' 4kq so that I can
replace the clutch. I have most of the stuff off like driveshafts, etc.
And have all bolts loosened but a couple.
	Here are my Problems

	1) How do you get the ball/socket unit for the GEar Selector off
of its balls. I cant seems to just pull them off but I REALLY dont want to
break them. Any idea.
	2) What are the part numbers I need to replace the bushings
inside this Ball Socket so that I can have a firm Shift lever again?
	3) How the heck do you get the metal shield for the right drive
shaft off. It sits above the Downpipe and below the inner CV joint. The
bently specified removing the first section of Exhaust. Did it mean I have
to remove the Downpipe? Is this hard, ie...are the bolts always corroded
on there. Anything to watch out for or tips for gettting it out

4) I am open to suggestions on how to make this faster/quicker/easier. As
far as I can tell, this is a PITA. And to top it all off, previous owner
put on an Aftermarket Cat and just welded it straight to the Down Pipe so
I had to SAw it off. There was a 6" section of tubing that connected the
two with the OXS welded into place in the pipe.
	THanks
