'86 4000csQ - vacuum advance - upshift light

Ladies and Gentlemen:
	My upshift light has not worked since I purchased the above car almost
2 years ago.  PO said it annoyed her so she had her mechanic disconnect
it.  Where would I look to find where it ought to be connected?  And
what does the wire/connector look like (# of wires, size of plastic
connector, color, etc.)?  Would I be correct if upon re-connecting the
contraption and getting no upshift light that the vacuum advance has
gone south?  Any and all comments appreciated.
