Check the firewall for a cylindrical switch with a vacuum hose going to
it and no connector on the switch.

One of the first things I do under a 'new' bonnet is check the vacuum
lines with a MityVac.  If you don't own one, just pull the small vacuum
lines off the inlet manifold and suck 'em.  Lots of resistance is OK.
A mouthful of fumes that takes three beers to clear is _NOT_ OK.

(Unless you're _really_ desperate for beer excuses.  Then it's OK.)
