We have a local busybody ("Civilian Chairman of the Neighbourhood Watch
Committee") who wanders around the village trying to do the police's
job for them - and pissin them off in the process.

I came back from London on Tuesday, and found him in front of me holding
up the traffic (speed limit minus 5mph - that sort of thing). He cut
me up by not signalling a couple of times, and then just as I was
about to overtake him he pulled into the outer lane to stop me.

I showed him what 540 watts looks like in a rear-view mirror.

He immediately picked up his cellphone to call his "friends" in the
local police control room directly.

They weren't interested in me. They've charged _HIM_ with driving
without due care and attention - using a cellphone in a moving car.
