Nice quattros

Hi all,

Went shopping for a new used car for my brother yesterday (he's into Nissan
200SXes, not really my style but they go quite well with the 1.8 16v turbo-
and make a nice change from his dull-as-ditchwater 2.0 Primera) and passed
a few nice Audis on the way.

Number one was a '96 A6 Avant 2.5TDI quattro- German import (not even on
Dutch plates yet), dark green metallic, superb beige leather interior and
nice wood, no price available. Looked like new.

Number two was an '88 90 quattro 10v- in Panther Black Metallic, my
favourite colour! Aero wheels, quattro script interior in black, another
German import, registered in '96. $7.5k, rather high but it sure looked
nice. It was outside on a dark and rainy day though- I'd never buy a car
like that...

Then a couple of Coupes, some were quattros and some were FWD. My favourite
was a '91 CQ in red metallic, looked like new although I prefer the OE
wheels to the generic 5-spokes on this car. There was a nice red 91 CQ as
well, prices on these cars seem to hover around the $10-11k mark here. The
original Dutch-market cars were mostly FWD.

A superb V8 quattro, with wonderful 18in wheels which looked a bit like the
OE aeros, and really looked like they belonged on the car. '92 car, cost
$15k, recent import. Would have rather a lot of import car tax due, I guess.

Finally, an A4 1.8q and an A4 Avant 1.8Tq. Both nice cars, the sedan being
red with nice wheels and some suspension mods, the Avant dark green
metallic and standard. Both were priced rather high- the A4s seem to hold
their value well. The '96 sedan required $22k to liberate it from its
owner, the '97 Avant $40k.
