I was there. John Gross and his beautiful mars urq stopped by to
chat and watch my first comical run. Tom Saltino brought his
great pearl S4 by at the end, too. Fortunately for me, I had
finished my runs before he got there. :^)
The turnout wasn't very good -- apparently there was some kind of
(SCCA?) event in Atlanta the same day. The bright side to this was
that everyone got plenty of runs (7, I think). I fessed up about
my coil-overs, so I was in CSP. I didn't mind, though, because I
don't think there were any cars in HS (probably not any in GS
either!). There was only one other car in CSP, but I never figured
out which one.
As expected, I had some serious understeering problems. I let some
air out of the fronts (down to 44 in front, 50 in back!), which
helped balance her out, but she still had a few problems (driver
error!). I was near the bottom of the pack with a best time of
41-something seconds. (Most were in the 38-39 range.) I had a great
time nonetheless.
I would really be better off at a track where the car can stretch
it's legs. I'm looking forward to our first club event.
