Re: Almost Reckless driving

Rokas:
I practice law from an office in Alexandria, VA, and among my practice
areas is speeding tickets and traffic matters. 20 miles over the posted
limit in Virginia is by definition Reckless Driving (Va. Code 46.2-862(i)).
It is often attainable to convince the prosecutor to reduce the charge to
mere "speeding" 10-19 miles over, which brings a penalty of $3 per mile over
(74 - 55 = 19 x $3 = $57) plus court costs (about $30), plus 4 demerit
points on your driving record (versus 6 points for reckless) plus what one
pays me to come to court and make the deal. Be careful out there.
