Away for the Winter

List:

Anyone know the 'correct' procedure for putting a car away for the winter?

I need to start thinking about putting my VW Cabriolet away for the winter,
and my mom was nice enough to offer me the left side of the garage for the
winter months.

Just wondering if there is anything I should do to the car to prepare it
for the long hibernation. This is my first 'summer car,' and I want to
make sure it still works when I take it back out of storage.. I know that
there is a certain procedure for preparing motorcycles and lawnmowers, etc.
-- e.g. draining the gas, etc., etc. -- is there a similar process for
cars?

This VW could sit for a year and start right up the first try. Sometimes I
leave it for 2 weeks -and then 'vrrrooommm' -starts right up. If I left my
Quattro like that for a week or 2 it would need an ER.

Your thoughts and suggestions are appreciated..

TIA,

Richard
