Peter, when an inner CV Joint is bad, it can often be felt as a vibration
under load at speed, as accelerating on the freeway or through a turn.
I've got a GTi in the shop now for the same thing, and my own golf is
doing it. Both inner joints on the GTi are trash, one much worse than the
other. I'll let you know if new joints fix'em
