Installing door speakers in 4k

I am thinking about putting speakers in the front doors of my 87 4k.  It 
looks like 6.5" speakers will fit, but i am not sure about the depth.  I 
have not taken the door apart to check the depth.  The speakers i want 
to mount need about 2.5".  Anyone have any info reguarding what fits and 
what doesn't?  How much depth is there?
