FWIW - I had to do an emergency hose repair on a car that was going 300
miles before it could be properly repaired. I removed the hose,
degreased it, roughened up the area around the spilt, and wound a length
of opened-out bicycle inner tube around it, coating all the surfaces in
rubber solution. I also put two monster tie wraps around the edges.
I'm told it's _still_ holding, though the owner now has the replacement
hose in the boot just in case it lets go.
