radio daze

help. i'm looking into replacing the stereo on a
'91 200 tqw [non-bose, audi gamma] and need
answers from guys who know...q-heads!
1. does this unit have a seperate factory amp or
is the amp built into the receiver. i talked to
crutchfield and they told me that it has a
serperate amp and that i could get a special
harness for $40.00 so that i wouldn't have to
rewire (i.e. run new wires from) my speakers. if
there is a seperate amp there, it sounds like
cr*p, so i'd just as soon by-pass it or get a new
amp. either way, i was told that i'd have to run
new wires from my speakers, although i'm not
exactly sure why. i asked crutchfield via e-mail
and they haven't gotten back to me yet.
2. if i want to change the front dash speakers,
crutchfield says that the only speaker that fits
is a rockford fosgate 4"m. says that these are
specifically made to replace mercedes and audi
speakers. another site http://www.countyradio.com
has a wiring database that says 5" speakers. any
recommendations and/or corrections. i remember
putting in boston acoustics in my '90 200tqw and
they fit fine, although i can't remember what size
they were.
3. to replace the dash speakers i assume that i
can access them by popping off the grills on the
dash?? what's the best tool for doing this. when i
had a shop do it once they broke one of the
grills. of course once i do that i can figure out
the speaker size...
4. my rear door speakers have  seperate woofer and
tweeter components. is this a factory setup? i'm
not sure if the previous owner upgraded the
speakers. can i pop the grills off from the front,
or do i need to take the door panel off?
