Considering Purchase, feedback?

I've got the quattro bug, looking to spend in the $8-$13K range. Saw two
possibilities today:

1) 1991 20V Wagon, deep blue (I think it was dark by 3:15 today and raining
when I saw it). Seemed to run really well, boost topped out at 2 bar, Dave,
who I trust and is selling it (hello Dave) has all the original owner's
extensive service records. Worry is that I need something that I can count
on not to leave me stranded, not as concerned about minor annoyances (seat
heat light switches not working e.g.103000 miles asking $12,900

2) He also has a 1990 Quattro coupe, pearl, will get it squared away prior
to sale, 130K miles, asking $8500

Requirements are as stated above. Comments, suggestions.

The 20V turbo is very fast, even practical with its carrying capacity. Also
drawn to the sportiness, compactness of the Coupe. So many Audis, so few days!
