Water pump replacement / PS pump question for V6
My car is currently in the shop to have a failing water pump replaced. From
what my Bentley shows, this involves removing the serpentine and timing
belts. I got a call this morning from the shop, and was told they broke the
flange on my power steering pump while removing its bolts. Can anyone tell
me why they were messing with the power steering pump? Is it necessary to
remove it to remove the serpentine or timing belts? From what I remember
from my Bentley, the power steering pump has nothing to do with the removal
of either belt. It also should not be in the way of any of the components
they are replacing (water pump, thermostat, t-belt tensioner). A rebuilt
unit is $200, so, to put it mildly, I'm VERY pissed at this point. Any
suggestions?
