The cogniscentii wil recognise one of my frequent opening lines:

"When I was a car pool manager in Germany with 50 Audis ..."

Anyway - back then, the service outfit would always invoice for a
thermostat change if a vehicle went for service at the beginning of
winter or summer. There was always a line item for, e.g., "Winter
thermostat fitted" plus the O-ring, etc.

I have to say I can't find _any_ mention of summer vs. winter
thermostats in _any_ of my current Audi documentation.

So what were they doing?
