Well, I must disagree.

I have two of the old controllers, and one of the new ones on my A6.
I just LOVE the new one. It lets me do what I want, not some meek
approximation....

You certainly can adjust the fan speed on auto. Auto "starts" in a
default mode, you can hit the up/down switches to adjust speed. Or the
vents it uses individually.

I would never go back to the old ones.....
