Our Toyotas have got electric cooling fans, but the temperature gauge
never moves at all when the engine is at operating temperature. It
just points straight up/out. No difference if I cruise at 100 mph at
+5 degrees C or the car is idling in the sun at +35 degrees C.
Our old VW Passat (now sold) had a gauge that moved in varying driving
conditions, so maybe this is something special to older VW/Audi cars?
