In praise of a mechanic

My sister lives in DC.  Her 88 80q died on her last week. She took
it to a gas station in the city where she was told that her computer was
bad and need wires replaced. I got sick to my stomach when I heard this.
I then turned to the mechanic list on the q-list home page where I found
the entry for Auto Centro Repair in Rockville, MD. Paulo, who answered
the phone checked out the car and diagnosed a bad alternator. They were
very polite and had no problem with us supplying the part from our stash.
Most of all, I am impressed that she had the part fixed without being told
that her car needed more unrelated expensive repairs, as many shops like
to do to women.  So big thanks to whoever donated the info to the
list.
