Larry- I have been following your trials and tribulations for a while now, and
must tell you your problem appears to be more in your choice of mechanics than
anything else. From the symtoms you describe, the engine does not seem to be
timed properly. The last time my timing belt was changed it was off one
tooth, and ran ok untill you tried to squeeze max performance. Then it
hesitated and almost died. The electronic control is designed to corredct for
small timing discrpencies, but has limits. Very few audi techs are trained on
the V8, and special tools and know how are required to do this job correctly.
It took the mech 3 tries to get mine right.HTH
