Re: Palm Pilot IR sniffing article



Excellent sensationalsit media at its best. What the article fails to
mention, though, is that you have to RECORD the code from the remote (for
the car in question) in order to use a Pilot to break into a car. And, as I
stated earlier, I tried it and it doesn't really work very well. Even when I
had the remote up close and personal, pointed right at the Pilots IR
reciever it failed to properly record the code most of the time. (It worked
maybe 1 in 30 times)

BTW, the Pilot is not the only device with a programable IR port on it. You
can buy a programable TV remote for about $50 now that might also do the
same thing. Not to mention the Winows CE equipped handheld computers,
laptops and the like.
