'86 4kq - trim removal from bumpers
Checked the archives on this, but didn't readily find anything.
In the coming weeks, I'm going to be fixing some rust on my '86 4kq. One
patch of rust will require the removal of the stainless steel and black trim
on the rear bumper. Are these trim pieces attached seperatly from the bumper
or will the entire bumper have to come off? After briefly looking at it, it
looks like the black trim is attached to the bumper, but the stainless steel
is attached to the body, but you would still need to remove everything to
get at those bolts. Is this correct? Or is there a way to only remove the
trim?
I'm also thinking of painting these trim pieces, so that is another reason I
would like to be able to remove them. The side trim pieces will probably be
removed. It lookes like those are glued on, and maybe one or two clips?
Thanks for all your help on everything so far. I ended up buying the tune-up
kit from Blau for $89, that included the wires, cap, rotor and plugs. My
plugs were just replaced a month ago, so I don't need these ones, anybody
want a set? I'll sell them cheap.
