Re: Which Quattro to buy?

A resonable low budget car would either be a FWD CGT (85-87)
or 4000q... Reason is that these cars do not have the hydraulic systems
that fail like the 5kt/tqc These cchaulk up big $$$$ in repairs...
bombs $200-300 PS pump $150-300 hoses $75-200 (each) rack $175-300
need I say more??? Also, these systems take Pentosin (hydraulic oil) $$
Standard 4kq/cgt uses atf and I have never had a pump fail (knock on wood)
Never had a rack leak either... Also have vacuum assist brakes...
4kq is a very fun car I have owned previous 5000s turbo and NA and a couple
coupes but I will tell you I have had more fun in the quattro than all
of the other cars put together...
Just buy a 4kq and put a resonable suspension on it (eibachs and some boges)
I did and I love it... night and day difference and I'll tell you the car
does handle like it's on rails...
But the CGT is cheaper to maintain but it doesn't have the same suspension
or quattro...

HTH!
