oil pressure and oil coolers...
Hi!
Just bumbling around looking at oil coolers on a site
posted earlier on the list. Started to think about my
low oil pressure problems when vehicle is hot or has
been driven hard (oil pressure drops below normal 1.8
bar, can go down to 1.0 bar and sometimes jumps around).
I was wondering if a faulty oil cooler could cause such
a problem. It all started happening last year when I shifted
from dino-juice to synth oil. I've been through the routes
on the list for looking for a cheap replacement oil pump,
and discovered it might be related to main bearings as
well, now I'd like to know what people know about oil
coolers affecting indicated oil pressure. Any ideas? Is
it possible some crud could be clogged in the cooler and
affecting pressure? I doubt it though, if I drive
consistently and slow the oil pressure will remain at
1.8 bar at idle ... but this is not guaranteed, driving the
same way sometimes make it go down to 1.0 bar or even
lower. Maybe the best check to this is to simply put in
a new clean oil cooler ($$$) when rebuilding.
