question for turbo gurus

Hi all,

For those of you who know turbos- a turbo car, bills to prove a rebuilt
engine 3k miles ago, smells of burning oil in a bad way. Not like oil
dripping on the manifold, but burning out of the exhaust.

Turbo RIP? It appeared fast enough, but the power delivery seemed somewhat
muted compared to a similar car I drove earlier.
There were no bills for turbo surgery, BTW- and all hoses seemed OK. The
car was bad enough in all other aspects to walk away from it, but this oil
smell made me curious.

Oh, and a word of advice: when buying alloy wheels, don't get cheap ones. I
looked at two cars with el cheapo aftermarket alloys, both had terrible
steering wheel shimmy and stacks of bills for balancing. Ruins the whole
feel of the car.
