That's cause the typical repair shop probably doesn't have a big welder,
jus' a little old MIG unit for quick'n'dirty repairs/patches; and
doesn't have a real "welder" ie someone who learned how to do it
properly - I know I wouldn't weld something that was holding the car up
in the air at my level of "skill"!
