When I cut through them to get the 4k spring seats for the 5kt struts I found
them to be as soft as regular mild steel.  Did not have to use 10 cutting discs
or anything like that.Cutting effort will usually tell you how soft the steel is.

I can also perform Rockwell hardness test when I am back in school and will let
you know.
Just out of curiosity.
