'87 4kq CV boots

Haudi,

Please tell me (and, of course, mean it) the outer CVs are attached like a
FWD 80's (hit w/hammer, off it comes) and not like a t44 turbo's (remove
shaft, curse, swear, snap-ring pliers, etc).

I noticed tonight that both front outers have failed in the past three
weeks (at 169k miles). Audi is nothing if not consistent, I guess.

Perhaps the gods are punishing me for bragging about my $22 total
maintenance cost for '98 (FI thermo switch in May). I was just trying to
bring another over from the "dark side!" (I think he's convinced that a
$8-12k 200q with $2-3k upfront maintenance is a much better bargain than
$30k for a mini car (aka A4)).
