Treser (one s) was basically a tuner of Audis, where one could buy a
tailor-made Audi. Modifications run from a body kit (on which opinions are
divided) to extensive mods- Herr Treser made a roadster UrQuattro, a 200
limo, something that was a cross between a sedan and an Avant (wagon), the
80/90 Hunter with jacked-up suspension and brush guards... etc.

I have a couple of original brochures from the '80s with pictures of the
modified cars. If you like standard Audis, you need a pretty strong stomach
to look at these IMO.

Herr Walter Treser used to work for Audi (I think he used to run the
competition department) which gave him something of an advantage when it
came to modifying Audis. Oettinger was the factory-sanctioned tuner
already, but Audi cooperated closely with Treser. When Treser went bust, he
started again in his wife's name, until that operation went bust, too.

As far as I know, all Treser-modified cars that went to the US were
standard apart from body kits and wheels. All these Treser-specific parts
are impossible to come by nowadays, though- something to bear in mind. Your
brother will not be a happy man if he damages the snowplough.... err- front
spoiler.
