Odd things, manual transmissions.  Audi's parts prices (especially for
the whole thing) are astronomical - yet as many people will tell you,
they very rarely break.

This leads to the curious circumstance that a new 016 gearbox is around
GBP4000 from Audi - but the breakers will offer a choice of five from
GBP200 to GBP400.

I'm tending to the view that 016 gearboxes from scrappers are now _SO_
cheap that repairing one is pointless.  Get another, try it, and if it
breaks just get another ...
