Re: Motor Flush

Well, Phil and I apparently have different versions. I've got the kind
you add to your -existing- oil. He's got the kind that IS the oil you run
in the engine.
The procedure is something along the lines of(read the can anyways):
-warm up car(NOT hot, just warm)
-if using additive-type, drain oil, refill with crappy oil(I used several
half-full bottles of mobil 1 lying around on the shelf.) Install el-cheap
oil filter.
-fill with oil if using the actual "flushing oil" and not additive
-run for 5 minutes with flush
-drain oil ASAP to prevent dirt+stuff from settling in the oil pan(the can
of stuff I have actually recommends removing+cleaning the oil pan if the
car is in really bad shape.)
-remove filter
-install genuine Audi filter(no rude comments, please) I always fill mine
up with oil -before- installation; prevents too much dry-running, filter
tears, yadda yadda.
-run for a few sec's
-check oil; surprise, it may be lower than you thought(the flush tends to
increase oil capacity back to stock because of all the deposits it
removes)
-top off
-run around the block
-come back, notice how nice 'n' clean that oil still looks :)
