5kS roof chrome strip R&R

Is there a way to remove teh chrome strip that runs along the top
of the side windows without damaging it? Mine has the chrome part
mostly missing (just black plastic left), and the local junkyard
has at least one car with it rather intact. But how does
one undo those little plastic circles with a hole in the center?
Are they some sort of rivet? Is there glue behind it?
