I can second that. Five years ago I picked up an '86 Scirocco. The person
I bought it from stated that he had just had over $600 in brake work done a
few months earlier. I was assuming they had to replace the calipers. After
I picked up the car I was going through the receipts he had kept and I found
the one for the lube job...ahem, I mean brake job at Midas. Total of $665
consisting of pads and shoes, 2 new rotors, 1 new drum, 1 resurfaced drum, &
new wheel cylinders. They charged him $84 each for rotors and $46 each for
wheel cylinders. They did give him a free oil change though. I replaced
all the brakes last year with new rotors, drums, wheel cylinders, bearings,
e-brake cables, pads & shoes. All German ATE or FAG. Paid $230 from
Adirondack.
The funny thing is I only paid $700 for the car. I paid for the guys brake
job and got to keep the car.
