If the blower motor in your car is original, the most likely cause of
your problem is worn out blower motor brushes. You need to replace the
blower motor.
You can check the brushes by removing the plastic plenum cover which
covers the area between the windshield and the firewall. Thiss gives you
access to the heater box. The blower motor is sticking out of the left hand
side of the heater box. There is a soft rubber right-angled hose connecting
the blower motor to the heater box - pull this hose off. You can now look
into the blower motor and see the top brush. The brush shunt (braided wire
connecting the brush to the motor) rides in a slot in the brush holder. If
the shunt is at the bottom of the slot, the brushes are worn out. You can
sometimes temporarily restore motor operation by pushing down on the brush
with a screwdriver. Re-assembly, to paraphrase the immortal words of Robert
Bentley, is in reverse order of removal.
