200q rev limit/er

Haudi,

The tach on the '89 200q (MC1) shows ~6300 as the limit. The owner's manual
references either 6300 or 6400 as the "never exceed" speed. I thought
Phil's MB was ~the same, but don't the Oorks run to ~7k? I've heard of
(risky?) MC folks running to 7300 or beyond.

My limiter function seems to be dead. I've revved to 7000 before w/o
actuating it. The smog man's digi machine says I'm reading 6600 at 6400
actual, so maybe 7000 is only 6800, but shouldn't it have kicked by then?
The relay is functioning:  all internals are intact, stalling the engine
kills fuel pump in ~1/2 second.

The 4kq, btw, clamps at 6700 every time. Could I swap relays for a
functional check?
