5kcstq timing adjustment
Greetings Qlisters,
My wifes 85 5kcstq wagon is in the local shop for a new timing
belt/water pump.
The wrench calls this morning and says the car isn't running right...
sometimes starts, sometimes not, when not there's no current to fuel
pump and no spark. He has loosened the distributor trying to adjust/set
timing and is now lost.
Brought him my Bentleys and looks like you can't set timing with a
light, must have factory machine to read off flywheel sensors(?).
Is this correct? Can you set spark timing with a light? How? If ECU
controls spark, can it be reset by pulling battery cable?
TIA for any help!
