To Clean or not to clean the ISV

Hey everyone,

I am always reading of people having to clean their ISV because of bad idle
situations.

My '88 5000 CS quattro idles fine with 112k miles.

Is this some sort of preventative maintenance that I should be doing?

Or is it better to leave it alone until it becomes a problem?

If this is something I should be doing regularly, can you Please give me
detailed 

instructions of the best method to clean the ISV.
