Funny MAP behaviour in Audi 200...
Hi fellow listers,
I've been noticing some odd behaviour on the readings showing
up on the digital boost gauge on my 200 (MC, 10-valve).
Normal behaviour used to be:
- 0.4 bar at idle
- 0.1 bar on max deceleration (letting off the
throttle suddenly from say 120kph and letting
it coast)
All readings at sea level.
As the past 2 weeks I've noticed that if I let the car
coast and let the MAP reading drop it will go down to
0.0 bar. At idle it is showing 0.3 bar. Not all the
time though, mostly when warm, other times still shows
0.4 bar at idle and 0.1 under deceleration.
Probably not a biggey, but to me it is just another little
niggling fault to show on this 200.
I'd like some ideas on what to go and check? Manifold
leak? Throttle valve problem? Vacuum line problem to ECU?
Couldn't be something like severe blow-by past the rings,
could it? (Sorry, what do I know, so might as well ask :) )
Any ideas? Could even be related to other people's problems
with cars not showing higher boost (anyone checked
vacuum/pressure lines from manifold to ECU for leaks on cars
with low boost?). I don't have a vacuum tester at the moment.
TIA.
G.
PS: new front brakes! Finally. Cost for Mintex pads is
1/4 that of Audi agent pads. Got free front rotors! :)
