My religion demands the use of stainless steel on all external
fasteners.  If you are just going to do the odd piece that was tough to
remove it isn;t even much money, most real hardware stores carry some
metric stainless these days.  Or go to Maryland Metrics
(http://mdmetric.com/) to get just about *anything*.  Like a 14mm fine
thread nut for the alternator pulley... they have a $10 minimum orer
with a $1 minimum line item.  Good folks.
