window motor

Subject: window motor


This is my first question to the list(my 2nd time trying to send it!). My
drivers window regulator went out (actually goes down fine, just not up). My
question is, can these motors be rebuilt, if so where can I get the parts.
Is it worth rebuilding, I understand that the new replacement mounts
differently than the old one requiring drilling a new hole in the sheet
metal. Is there an advantage to the new motor(perhaps faster?)?
Oh I did try switching the switches! and that is not the problem. I am
guessing it is just worn out. the best price I have seen so far is $160 from
GPR, does anyone sell rebuilt ones that are worth using?.  Oh yea!, my car
is an 87 5K TQ 140k, IA chip, other stuff=)
