87.5 CGT - job done
Thanks for all the advice - we got the job done, finally,
but not before damaging the outer cvj stub axle.
We were able to bevel it using a bench grinder and it bolted
up fine.
The 87.5 uses a different joint from the 84/5 4kq I've
worked on, and as reported, there is a small circlip that needs to be
spread apart before you whack the joint off. One came off fine,
the other was a bitch. Live and learn.
The car now has new Boge TGs, ball joints, tierod ends.
I'll get it aligned first thing tomorrow AM and report back.
Famous quotes "It will take us about 2 hrs to do the first side
and 1hr to do the other." Yeah right.
Someone please tell me, WHY does it always snow when I DON'T
have a quattro in my driveway? This has been the pattern for
the last 3 cars! Sheesh...
