If this is a CIS equipped car (sorry guys i dont know my older Audi's) then it
may be the same problem i had with my 87 Jetta GLI. Check for a vacuum line to
th ECU that may be disconnected or torn. If so, the ECU may not be reading
correctly, and not advancing the timing/adding fuel to keep the car running.
Manually advancing the timing got my Jetta started until i found the leak.
